NOTD: Peach Smoothie by Revlon

After having bright nails for the past few weeks I fancied wearing something a little more neutral so thought it the perfect opportunity to try another from Revlon’s scented collection.

Peach Smoothie is a nude beige colour with tiny flecks of iridescent sparkle. It applies easily enough though did require three coats to achieve an opaque finish. I’ve had this on my nails for three days now and with a top coat there is barely any wear on the tips.

In terms of the scent aspect there is a slight fragrance to my nails though I think it’s the colour which sells this polish rather than the gimmicky scent aspect. The nail polishes are priced around £6.49 from Boot’s and Superdrug.

Sen Skincare

Sen skin and body care uses natural ingredients, exotic plants and essential oils used in Chinese medicine and beauty to create their unique range of products.  The theory comes from the Manchurian women in northern china who manage to counteract the cold and dry climate to achieve beautiful skin.

I’ve been sent a couple of products to trial, a bath & shower cream and hand cream, both of which contain manchurian ginseng and ginger which give potent hydration for the skin, soothes, softens and prime the skin texture.

The packaging I think is lovely as the card packaging with the slide out compartment immediately makes the product feel expensive. The colours are simple but classy and even the bottle themselves have a lovely flower pattern on the back.

The bath & shower cream and collagen hand cream both have the same refreshing scent which I think most people will like. It’s not the usual citrus scent which I’m not a big fan of yet still is very refreshing even without the citrus edge. Maybe it’s the ginger giving it a different scent?

The bath & shower cream is very luxurious and leaves your skin feeling soft with a lingering scent. The collagen hand cream is easily absorbed and leaves your hands feeling lovey and soft. This is a good range to keep an eye out for as it’s quite different to anything else I’ve tried. The bath and shower cream is £9.95 for 300ml and the collagen hand cream is £15.95 for 200ml available from Sen.

NOTD: GOSH Holographic

Posted by Laura | Hands,NOTD,Nail polish | Saturday 26 February 2011 3:01 pm

I’ve seen quite a lot of talk recently on Twitter about people desperate to get their hands on GOSH Holographic so when I popped into Superdrug and saw this bottle for only £2.49 I couldn’t resist buying it. I had thought it had been discontinued but it seems you can still find it in some shops.

The holographic nail polish is meant to be applied over a special base coat but I couldn’t be bothered to buy this as I already have so many other base coats. I did have a few problems applying this as it does tend to drag a bit so needs three quite swipes to coat the nail.

After just one coat it looked sop streaky but three coats later I had this lovely holographic effect. It did dry really quickly so is easy to apply quite a few coats. The polish is very pretty when it catches the light and its hard to do it justice with a photo.  Tip wear wise its not great but I love the effect it gives so would consider using this to glam up my nails for an evening out.

NOTD: OPI Last Friday Night

I thought it was about time I did another NOTD and continued my swatches of the mini set of Katy Perry nail polishes by OPI. This time I’ve chosen Last Friday Night which is a blue glitter polish.

I finally chipped one of my nails the other day after months of them looking perfect and have now had to trim them all short to match. As I have quite short nails I didn’t fancy wearing a polish too bold, I just wanted a subtle hint of colour.

I’ve actually only applied one coat here as I liked the subtle colour it gave with a good splash of sparkle. I think even with a few more coats it would never be as bright blue as in the bottle which in my eyes is a good thing as I much prefer the subtle blue colour.

Favourite Products Part 1

Posted by Laura | Body,Face,Hair,Hands,Skin | Sunday 9 January 2011 9:15 am

I had been meaning to do a round up of my favourite products of 2010 at the end of the year but we had such a busy Christmas that I just didn’t get round to posting. So instead I’ve decided to do a post of my favourite, must have products which I use everyday.

I didn’t realise how many products I use all the time until I started to get them out to photograph them. I’ve therefore decided to do two parts to this post with this first part being all about skincare, bodycare and hair. The second part will be a round up of my favourite makeup.

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser: My essential everyday cleanser which suits my combination skin perfectly. It seems to cleanse my oily t-zone and removes all traces of makeup whilst still being gentle on any dry patches. The Clarin’s range keeps my skin the most blemish free it’s ever been.

Clinique Super Defense Moisturiser: This is my everyday moisturiser as its also suits my combination/oily/dry skin well in all areas. It also contains SPF 25 which is the highest I can find on the market in an everyday moisturiser.

Clarins Pure and Radiant Mask: I try to use this once a week as this helps to keep any blemishes at bay and has made my skin as near perfect as it’s ever been.

Clinique 7 Day Scrub: I also use this once a week before the Clarins face mask as its a wonderful exfoliator which leaves my skin soft and smooth. I also use it after a night out where I’ve used heavy makeup as it leaves my skin feeling sparkling clean and helps prevents my pores getting all clogged up with makeup.

Palmers Body Butter: This is my intensive moisturiser which is a lot like the body butters from Body shop. My favourite is this shea butter which has a lovely cocoa scent which remains on your skin hours after using it. It also works wonder on all my dry patches especially elbows, ankles and heels.

Liz Earle Energising Body Moisturiser: I love the Liz Earle range and this moisturiser is no exception. Made from organic, natural ingredients its a lovely moisturiser with a lovely scent.

Apicare Repair Me Hand Lotion: This a very rich hand lotion which is quickly absorbed into the skin so I use this as my everyday hand lotion. It keeps all those nasty dry patches and ragged cuticles at bay. Its from the apicare range which uses manuka honey to repair, protect and moisturise.

Liz Earle Superbalm: I’ve found this superbalm perfect for the times when my cuticles are looking very ragged so I often apply it at night before going to bed to give it time to soak into my hands. It can also be used on any dry patches of skin anywhere on the body, especially on cracked heels as an intensive overnight treatment.

Upper Canada All About Feet Foot Butter: This foot butter is similar to my favourite body butter from palmers but it has the lovely scent of peppermint which makes it lovely for your feet. Very nourishing for any dry, cracked patches and the peppermint has a cooling effect perfect for tired feet.

Aussie Take The Heat Shampoo: I find the Aussie haircare range the perfect cure for my dry, brittle, heat treated and continually dyed hair. It also has the added benefit of protecting my hair against the intense heat from my straighteners which I must admit I use every day!

s 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner: I use this as my regular conditioner as I’ve found it too be the most intensive and nourishing conditioner on the market. A few minutes on your hair does wonders and reverses the ravages of the straighteners. It leaves my hair soft and silky with a lovely fragrance.

MoroccanOil Styling Creme: This was my find of the year and is an amazing styling creme. It also leaves the hair soft, silky and looking very nourished. It actually reduces the amount of time it takes to straighten my hair which I think has got to have a lot of benefits in the long term. I just need to save a few pennies now to buy the rest of the range!
