St Moriz – Possibly Better Than St Tropez!

I’ve always seen lots of people rave about St Moriz fake tan and compare it to the famous St Tropez which I love. It’s usually only available in shops like Saver’s and TKMax and unfortunately I’ve  never managed to get hold of it so I started looking online and I found that I could pick it up from Amazon for only £2.99 plus postage. I’ve opted for the regular version rather than the dark formulation as I’m not brave enough for that just yet!

Appearance wise it does remind me of my St Tropez only without the distinctive blue on the packaging. The formulation and application was just the same as my St Tropez and when used with my fake mitt it applied very evenly without any streaks. The colour wasn’t quite as dark as with my St Tropez but it still gave a lovely golden colour which lasted very well. I found it was about 4 days before I wanted to start topping up my tan.

I should really have done before and after pictures but it’s a little late now! The colour is a little more golden than this picture but hopefully you get the idea of how well this works even on pale skin. Considering I paid £24 for my St Tropez and St Moriz is only £2.99 even if it needs a second coat to get the colour you want it’s worth the price difference. I think I’m going to be brave and try to get my hands on the dark version now!

Clinique Self Tan Everyday Lotion

I’ve been using my St Tropez bronzing mousse to give myself a lovely golden tan but I’ve been thinking that when I go on holiday in a few weeks it might be nice to have one of the gradual self tanners to use every day to help top up my tan.

I received this Clinique daily self tan as part of a free gift set I got a couple of months ago when I bought two Clinique products. I have tired the Dove and Garnier ranges before I always been pleased with the results so I thought it would be interesting to see how a more expensive brand compared.

The lotion appears a little yellowy but it this disappears when you apply it. It is easily absorbed into the skin and doesn’t particularly have a fragrance which I count as a good point. I used my St Tropez and week ago and have been applying this every day or so since.

I think this picture is a little over exposed as my tan definitely looks more golden than this in real life. By using this everyday self tan it really has extended the life of my St Tropez tan. It’s also really easy to apply as you use it everyday which I find reduces the risk of going patchy or streaky.

I find the St Tropez easy to apply so this is more time consuming owing to the more frequent applications however for use whilst on holiday I think this would be perfect as it will keep my tan looking lovely with worrying about going patchy if I rush the application. Clinique daily moisturiser is available from Clinique for £16.

St Tropez Bronzing Mousse

I tend to favour Xen Tan but since picking up a couple of bottles of Solait Tinted Bronzing Foam I’ve been gradually trying to make my through them. Even though I initially quite liked the Solait fake tan I’ve become less keen on it as I’m finding it needs reapply very regularly to keep a golden colour, often every other night otherwise my skin is noticeably paler.

I’ve also found that with such regular application my sheets were getting rather faked tanned as well as I tend to apply it in the evening which was starting to become rather annoying! I had a few vouchers to use for John Lewis so I’ve given up with the Solait and picked up a bottle of St Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse.

St Tropez has to be one of the brand leaders for fake tan so I’m ashamed to admit I’d never actually tried their range before! The self tan mousse gives an instant bronze colour as well as fake tanning you. I quite like products which are coloured as it helps to guide the application and I find it help prevent me ending up with dark or streaky patches as you can see where you have already applied it.

This instant colour does give a golden glow so could be applied during the day however I do prefer to use it before bed. The only downside being their is a little transfer onto the sheets but nothing too bad. I should have done some before and after pictures but I didn’t think of it before hand! Just one application gave me the perfect golden look I’d been craving!

The picture above is taken 3 days after using the St Tropez and as you can see I still have a lovely golden colour, I think slightly more brown is real life than in this picture. Application was very easy and quick with a perfect streak free finish. The colour has lasted really well and it was only on about the 4th day I started to notice it fading. Fortunately when it does fade it seems to very evenly so you don’t end up all patchy!

The bronzing mousse was £24.51 for 240ml which initially seems a little steep however as I only need to reapply this twice a week at the most I think it’s going to last me for a long time. I think it’s well worth the prize particularly as it saves e having to fake tan quite so often! Sometimes I think you really do get what you pay for in the beauty industry.

Solait Tinted Bronzing Foam

I have such pale skin that to give myself any colour in the summer months I definitely need to use a fake tan. I’m quite happy to have lovely pale skin during the winter but as soon as it starts getting warmer I feel then need to give my pale skin a summery glow. I usually buy Xen Tan products but I was in Superdrug last week and saw they have special offers on their fake tan range I thought I would try them to see how they compare.

I’ve picked up the Solait Tinted Bronzing Foam in light to medium which usually retails for £7 but they have a special offer at the minute where you can buy products for only £7.99. I also picked up a self tan applicator mit from the same range to see whether this would help give a streak free finish without any orange palms.

The product is a foam rather than a mousse, it feels a little like the bubbles in a bubble bath. It’s tinted which I find handy to allow you see where you’ve applied the fake tan and any areas which need blending.  The fake tan applied easily and gave a streak free finish. I have a few darker patches around my ankles but I think that was my own fault for forgetting to exfoliate them!

Compared to lots of other fake tans I’ve tried it doesn’t smell too bad and even though it was tinted I found I didn’t get too much transfer onto my clothes. I did use the mit to apply it which I’m not overly convinced with. On the packaging it claims to prevent your hands getting stained however I found the fake tan soaked straight through onto my palms so I was still required to scrub them afterwards.

For the price I paid for this I think it’s worth the money but would require a few uses to give a golden glow. It’s not converted me from Xen Tan though but is a good alternative if you want a cheaper product.
