Bonbonbonbon2As some of you may have noticed my blog has been rather lacking in posts during the past few weeks. I have unfortunately been revising for an exam, something which I thought after university I would never have to do again!

Alsa no, exams are unfortunately something I seem to be unable to get away from even now with a little one to look after. Howver as I now have quite a few items I wanted to write about I’m taking a well earned revision break and thought I would do a few reviews whilst the little one is asleep.

For my first review I have been trying some lip balms from the BonBon range. These lip balms are all hand made using natural ingredients to give a lovely range of flavours. I’ve been trying two from the range, carmel and pina colada.

I think my favourite is the carmel which has a lovely sweet which is very reminiscent of carmel. Its also very nourishing for your lips and I’ve been keeping it on the side in my kitchen so I remeber to keep applying it stop my lips drying out in all the sun weather (well it was sunny earlier in the week!). I also love the little glass jars the balms come in which makes them look far posher than your average lip balm.

That said I do like the pina colada flavour as well and you can definately tell that it smells of pineapple and coconut. Its not quite as sweet as the carmel one, though thats probably the reason my carmel is my favourite! The range of flavours they make sounds very edible including chocolate and mojito balm. They all sound good enough to eat!

John Frieda Frizz-Ease

Frizz EaseThe John Frieda range has been designed with salon expertise, to create hair products tailored to particular hair types and needs.  As part of this range, John Frieda boasts an impressive collection of frizz combating products.  With hair as rebellious as mine, I stepped up to join the ‘Frizz-Ease Revolution’ and say ‘NO!’ to bad hair…hopefully, anyway.

The Frizz-Ease collection is based around either straight or curly hair needs, with shampoo & conditioners, serums and styling products for each hair type, and I tried out the Curl range, Frizz-Ease Curl Around Style Activating Shampoo and Frizz-Ease Curl Around Style Activating Conditioner.

The shampoo and conditioner boasts a ‘curl-enhancing complex’ to lock in moisture and improve natural curl patterns.  The shampoo worked very well at actually cleansing my hair – with such problem hair I often resort to a combination of hair products to help tame it, which can quickly cause build-up, but this shampoo left my hair really squeaky clean in no time! The conditioner was equally good, with a nice delicately fresh scent, and my hair did feel very soft afterwards.

Next, I used the Frizz-Ease Original Hair serum, which promised to ‘smooth and tame split ends’.  I have to say, as someone that tries a lot of different hair products, this particular serum was the answer I have been looking for! Quite often, hair serums can be too thick and feel sticky, making it hard to apply  evenly.
This serum felt very light and silky, and was easy to distribute by just
running my fingers through the hair.

When my hair was dry, I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome.  It did look noticeably less ‘fly-away’ on the top layer of hair, and my natural curls looked better defined.  To keep my hair in tip top shape, I spritzed it with the Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier hair spray.  When first sprayed, it felt quite tacky, and was a little slower to dry than other hair sprays, but leave it a minute to dry and the results are magical!! When it had dried, my hair felt really soft and flexible, rather than crispy as some sprays can do! It gave an absolutely fantastic shine too and my hair stayed well-behaved the whole night, gaining a handful of compliments.

With such difficult hair, I was dubious as to how much difference these products would make, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the John Frieda range, and would definitely suggest that anyone with frizz-prone hair to give it a go!
