Pond’s Winter Wonders

pondsI’ve been learning the art of bouncing the baby in his bouncy chair with one foot whilst trying to balance the laptop and type in order to write this post! It seems to working well as he has nodded off but now I have to keep going with the bouncing to keep him asleep, at least I’m giving my leg a work out!!

With winter upon us Pond’s skincare is promoting their range of face creams to help us guard against frosty days, icy winds and the drying effects of central heating. I’ve been trying a couple of their creams for my post; the hydro-nourishing cream and dry skin cream.

The hydro-nourishing cream is quite a light feeling moisturiser which is designed for dry or normal skin types. I’ve been using it on my combination skin and it feels light enough for my skin though I do apply it sparingly around the T-zone. It contains evening primrose oil to nourish your skin and I do think it does leave my skin feeling very soft. The cream works well on my cheeks which can get dry in the wintery weather and even on the oilier areas its still easily absorbed.

The dry skin cream is a little rich for my particular skin type as it is a thicker moisturiser most suitable for skin types that are prone to dryness. I have been using just a little of it on any dry patches I get, such as around the eyes, and the cream does work well as an intense moisturiser to clear up the small dry patches.

Deep Skincare

DeepDeep skincare is a very new range of products launched in 2008  which claims that ‘being deep is more than just the surface’. They have a range of products which are designed for your different moods to compliment your beauty regimen. Whether you want to relax, soothe, revive, create happiness or harmony their are products designed with these moods and many more in mind.

I’ve been trying the Happiness Hydrating Face Balm which is a day and night cream containing vitamin E to help soothe tired skin. It also contains extract of calendula and shea butter which are very nourishing for your skin. The balm has a very light and delicate scent which doesn’t feel over powering. It has a very light texture when applied to the skin and is suitable for combination skin. If you suffer from dry skin though you may a heavier moisturiser.

I’ve also got the Soothe Massage and Bath Oil in the cocoa sublime scent. The oil is based on ylang ylang which gives a fruity, flowery fragrance. This product also contains vitamin E which again is very nourishing for the skin and even just using a few drops in the bath does make your skin feel softer.

One Hot Minute from Benefit

Benefit

My blog has been rather lacking in new posts for the  past couple of weeks which is due to the arrival of my little baby boy! Its amazing how much time you spend with a little one however as he is now sleeping peacefully (hopefully I haven’t jinxed myself there!) I thought I’d better get down to reviewing some of this seasons new products!

One Hot Minute is the new ’sexy in seconds face powder’ from benefit which I’d actually been looking at the weekend before baby’s arrival and had half started my post.  It’s a rosey-gold finishing powder which can be used in place of your usual blusher to give skin a radiant glow.

I love the design of the tin as it looks very cute in your make-up bag. The powder itself gives a very gentle hint of colour that can be built up gradually and I think it works perfectly to make your skin appear more radiant even when used alone. The pinky colour works even on the palest of complexions like mine without making you appear as though you are having a hot flush! With a new baby and little time for pampering this is great product to make you skin look like you’ve had little more sleep than baby allows.

urban decayBook of Shadows from Urban Decay is back with volume 2 of their fabulous eye make-up palette. The new volume includes nine of the best selling eye shadows from the previous volume plus seven brand new shades. The eye shadow range includes shimmers, glitters, neutral and bright shades to let you build a variety of looks.

It also includes two eye pencils and an eye shadow primer pot to ensure your new look stays where its meant to! Hidden away behind a secret door is a look book full of photos to help give a little inspiration on how to use your new eye shadows.

I love the indulgent appearance of this eye shadow palette and the range of colours is fab. My personal favourites are YDK which is a golden bronze colour with a hint of glitter and Midnight Cowboy Rides again which is a glittery golden beige colour that look great during the day even when applied in a rush!

Arbonne Christmas Gift Sets

ArbonneThis Christmas Arbonne has launched a selection of luxury gift sets which make a lovely present for someone special. The gift sets range from total body pampering to sets just for the hands or feet.

I’ve tried the Star Jasmine  Tuberose gift set which contains a body creme, bath and shower gel, body lotion and fragrant mist all packaged in a lovely gift box. This is a very indulgent gift set and the simple packaging of the individual items makes it feel like a very expensive product.

As the name  Star Jasmine Tuberose  suggests, this definitely has a floral fragrance which is due to the citrus blooms and rose musk. Personally for me the fragrance is slightly too strong but then again I’m not a huge fan of floral scents. If you’re into floral perfumes then this is likely to be right up your street. I think for me their Black Orchid gift set is more to my tastes as it has a less floral edge.

I been looking on their website and I also love the look of the Pampermint gift set which is a minty gift set for the feet! This set contains a foot scrub, foot lotion and lovely pair of soft socks all nicely packaged in a gift box. All I need to do is to convince my husband to give me a pedicure since bump is making it a bit hard to reach my own feet!
