Purity Organic Facewash and Moisturiser

facial-washFrom the Purity Organic range, the Purity face wash contains only natural ingredients, and is fragrance free and gentle, specifically aimed at sensitive skin. The bottle itself has a clever designed dispenser- pushing one half of the lid down makes the other half pop up with an opening to squeeze the gel formula through. Although fine for the bathroom cabinet, I probably wouldn’t risk taking it in hand luggage in case it was accidently squeezed when travelling! The face wash itself is halfway between a gel and liquid, feeling slightly slimy to apply, but once massaged in with a bit of water it forms a nice creamy lather. It left my skin feeling soft, and was good for removing makeup even around the eyes as it was very gentle. It would be ideal for anyone with delicate or sensitive skin, but I didn’t find it very effective for problem skin. For a budget cleanser you get a lot of product for your money, and would be worth buying as an everyday wash- particularly as it is non-animal tested, 100% natural and contains organic ingredients.

The Purity moisturiser is marketed as a ‘light mousse’, so the texture was a bit different to what I was expecting! It is actually a very rich, thick cream, which again is fragrance free. The formula had to be rubbed quite a lot to sink in to the skin, and I found that if skin was at all damp, then the mixture would sit on the surface rather than be absorbed. It left skin feeling soft and supple, but I probably wouldn’t recommend it for oily skin. It would be good for dry patches of skin, and I actually used some on sunburn around my neck and shoulders, and it certainly helped! Overall good for very dry skin, but personally I found it a bit too thick.

Revlon Beauty Tools

revlon-pedi-expertRevlon have just launched a new range of beauty tools to complement their makeup range. Their new range include eye, skin, manicure and pedicure tools.

The Pedi-Expert Pedicure Kit is designed to smooth away those troublesome calluses and dry skin that you often find on your feet. It comes with two metal attachments the first of which I must admit reminded me slightly of a cheese grater! Fortunately its not as harsh on your skin as you would think and on those really tough, dry areas it works really well to remove the dead skin. The second file has a finer grain and is used after the first to leave the feet with a smooth feel. After using the pedicure kit and applying a little bit of moisturiser my feet felt very soft and ready for those summery shoes!

I also have the crystal nail file which claims to be help prevent your nails from breaking and as its glass it shouldn’t wear down like some other nail files. Its quite gentle to use so allows you to easily file and shape your nails. The crystal nail file comes with a protective pouch to store it in and is the perfect size to fit in your handbag.

Bourjois Eye Makeup

bourjois-cosmetics-regard-effet-duochrome-gammeBourjois have such a colourful range of eye makeup that I can’t help but be tempted to buy myself something new when passing. I love their eyeshadows and eyeliner pencils.

Bourjois Pastel Lumiere Eyeshadow are the colourful round compact style eyeshadows which come in a huge number of colours of which I especially love the blues, greens, golds and purples.  The brighter tones of eyeshadows give a very intense colour great for the evening whilst the more neutral gold and pearl colours give a natural day time look.  All the eyeshadows have a pearly sparkle which I find brightens up your eyes and looks far prettier than other matt eyeshadows.

Bourjois Kohl and Contour eyeliner also comes in a great range of colours. The pencils are very soft and blenadable so create a lovely smokey edge to the eyes. I find them very easy to apply to top and bottom lashes without making any noticeable mistakes like you get with some of the liquid style eyeliners. I have quite a few of the pencils of which the black and grey are invaluable. Black eyeliner looks great for a night out, but  muted grey is far easier to use for a daytime look.

Emu Oil

emu-oil-plusI’v been trying some products from the Emu Oil Well company which contain pure Australian emu oil. Emu oil is a remedy traditionally used by the aborigines to keep their joints supple and proctect their skin. It can be used on sensitive, dry skin as well as for a number of other skin conditions such as scars, stretch marks, ezcema and bruises.

The Emu Oil Well have a large range of products from skin creams and cleansers through to shampoos and condtioners. They also sell pure emu oil in a little tin which can be used on really dry patches of skin including ezcema and can be rubbed ito aching joints to soothe them.

I’ve tried the emu skin cream which can be used on face or body and is very nourishing on dry skin. As well as containing emu oil it also contains vitamin E and chamomile so only has a very slight fragrance. I mainly used the cream on any dry patches of skin on my face and it work very well. Its also good as hand mosituriser as it leaves your hands feeling nice and soft.  I have also got the rosehip emu oil which is supposed to be good for stretch marks so I’m saving that for now until bump becomes larger!

King of Shaves Azure Razor

Posted by Laura | Beauty Tips, Toiletries | Wednesday 8 July 2009 9:26 pm

king-of-shaves-azure-womanKing of Shaves have just launced the new Azure razor and a range of moisturising shaving gels. Peviously all of the range had been aimed at men so now women get to try the products as well!  The new razor is shaped slightly differently to the traditional Gillette razors which is designed to allow you to smoothly shavedifficult areas such as knees and ankles. It has four blades surrounded by a soft rubber bumper which is meant to help lift the hairs and protect against nicks or cuts.

I tried the razor for the first time this week and initially I found the straight shape of the razor slightly hard to use when trying to shave under the arms, probably as its not what I was used too!  You always feel slightly cautious that you might cut yourself with a new razor. However once I got the hang of using the razor it actually made for a very easy shave especially on the legs. The straight style of the handle gives you exactly the right angle for shaving your legs and its smooth to use over the knees or ankles. I also have the pamper and moisturise shaving gel which is a lovely, silky smooth gel and helps you to shave effortlessly.

Overall the Azure razor leaves your legs feeling just as smooth as the other razor’s on the market and is just as easy to use. It also has the advantage of being cheaper than leading brands such as Gillette (the razor+3 blades costs £4.99 and 4 replacement blades cost £4.99). The Azure razor is currently only available on-line or in Sainsbury’s however I’m sure in no time it will be available in other shops.
