Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion

doveI had been using Johnson’s Holiday Skin moistuiser to achieve that golden summer glow,  however as Boots are currently selling Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion at half price I decided I might as well try something new. Especially as Dove’s product also claims to give a subtle and even tan without leaving those dreaded streaky marks.

I’ve always found with Johnson’s Holiday Skin you can smell the fake tan in it when you apply the lotion. However as it had worked so well in providing a golden colour without streaks I had always ignored the slightly off putting smell. Dove’s Summer Glow Lotion on the other hand has a very pleasent smell which just reminds me of a normal body lotion. If you are applying this in the morning and will be wearing it all day you really don’t want to be smelling of fake tan for the day!

In terms of colour Dove’s product does live up to its claims of giving a lovely soft golden glow without streaks. I have pale skin so chose the product for fair to medium skin, and after the first application you just get a very soft hint of colour. Further applications allow you to gradually build up  the colour to achieve a richer, darker colour which still appears quite natural. Overall inn terms of colour I think the Johnson’s product has the slight edge, however Dove’s product is far easier to live with as it doesn’t leave that fake tan smell.

Vera Wang Princess Fragrance

princessPrincess fragrance by Vera Wang is a lovely floral perfume perfect for all those princesses out there. It’s described as having heart notes of pink guava mixed with  water lily which initially gives a very girly fragrance.  The base notes of vanilla and musk give the perfume a sensual edge once the original top notes have faded.

I find that initially the fragrance has a very floral scent with a hint of fruit which I imagine is the pink guava however this quickly fades allowing the more sensual base notes to show through. Princess is a light fragrance that can easily  be worn during the day however I would also quite happily wear it for the evening.  The other thing I love about this fragrance of course, has to be the girly packaging! The heart shaped bottle with the jeweled crown on top is perfect for all those princesses dressing tables.

A Facemask Good Enough To Eat

When ever you pass by Lush the products in there always smell lovely and tempt me to go in and see what they have on offer. Many of their ranges smell good enough to eat and the facemasks are no exception. My favourite is the cupcake facemask which smells exactly like chocolate cupcake mixture!

I find this face mask good if you have oily or combination skin as it contains mud which helps to draw out the oil and impurities leaving your skin free from break outs. Cupcake is definately more a purifying facemask rather than moisturisering one, however this is perfect for me. It’s easy to apply and you leave it on for about 5-10 minutes until it starts to dry.

The only problem I find is that I do make quite a mess washing it off, as you end up with muddy marks around the bathroom! However after using the facemask I do find that my skin feels smoother and clearer than  before with fewer breakouts. Just make sure you don’t use your best white towels when washing it off!

Bourjois Blush

If your after a girly pink blusher then Bourjois Blush is the range for you. I have a very pinky shade of this product called Rose D’Or which looks great on very pale skin tones. When applied it gives the cheeks a rose glow with a touch of shimmer.

With the first application it just gives a fine pale hint of pink which is why I think this particular shade is best suited to paler skin tones. However more can be applied to build up the colour to get the rosey glow you prefer.  I must admit that I do always apply quite a bit of blusher and fortunately this product blends easily meaning it looks very natural.

Clinique Superdefense Moisturiser

Clinique Superdefense triple action moisturiser  is one of my favourite face creams for the summer. Its one of the few mositurisers on the market that contains an high SPF of 25 making it perfect for all the sunny weather we are getting. It also claims to help prevent the signs of aging by working against stress and pollution. However of course the anti aging properties can only be seen in the long term but using a high SPF certainly has to help a bit.

I’ve been using this cream for a few years now and I think its wonderful. I have the one for combination to oily skin which feels nice and light to apply unlike using a suntan lotion which can feel greasy on the skin. Makeup can be applied easily over the top as there is no residue left on the skin. Even with my very pale skin I find that  this cream protects it from burning throughout a day in the sun with the need to reapply. The Superdefense cream isn’t mean’t to be applied over your usual mosituriser, however I find that using it on its own is enough unless you find that you have particularly dry skin. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to protect their skin against the sunshine.
