fake-tanIts that time of year again when the sun starts to shine and we all start considering baring our pale and pasty legs that have been hidden away all winter. Many of us will start considering buying a fake tan product to help give us that summery look, before getting our legs out!

The first product I’ve tried this year is Ambre Solaire No Streaks Bronzer in light, due to my naturally pale skin. This fake tan product claims to give a natural, streak free tan when used at any angle. When I tried this spray it felt very easy to use and dried very quickly however I did have to stand in the bath to ensure I didn’t cover the room in fake tan! Unfortunately once the tan started to develop an hour later I found that I was very patchy even though I had tried very hard to cover my legs evenly. My feet were also  a lot darker than the rest of my legs as the spray tends to settle on your feet without you realising! The actual colour itself if even, would have been perfect for my pale skin, however there is clearly a knack to achieving that streak free tan.

My Dream Foundation

dream-matte-mousseWe all know how hard it can be to choose that perfect foundation that suits your skin type and covers any blemishes or problems areas, whilst still being invisible to the eye.

I know all the rules about shopping with no foundation on so you can try a foundation on your jawline, testing it out in natural day light and of course not trying the foundation on your wrist or hand. However when ever I go shopping I seem to forget all the ideas and resort to testing the new foundation on the back of my hand! This is probably the reason for my many foundation disasters including foundations too dark for your skin tone giving a lovely tide mark foundations that leave your skin looking oiler than when you started and worst of all the extra matte foundation that leaves you looking like you have covered your face in talcum powder.

I have just discovered Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse which of course I bought after trying it on the back of my hand! However much to my surprise when I got it home I found that it was indeed the perfect match for my skin tone.  The foundation feels very light on your skin and blends easily to give perfect coverage for those blemish prone areas. I found the formulation worked to control those oilier t-zone areas without caking on the drier patches. It also has the advantage of being very reasonably priced so I will certainly be sticking with this foundation.

Embracing the New Gillette Venus Razor

venusI had recently being using the Gillette Venus Breeze razor, one of the only razor’s with built in shaving gel bars. Perfect for the lazy girl as it saves on having to buy the shaving gel to go with your razor, something which I always forget! Unfortunately the first couple of times you use the razor I found it quite bulky as the shaving gel bars make it hard to manoeuvre around those delicate areas such as under your arms. However once the shaving gel bars start to dissolve a little it becomes far easier to use.

For that reason I decide to try the new Gillette Venus Embrace and just buy myself some shaving foam instead. This new razor boasts five blades instead of the usual three for a closer shave. The razor works well and glides over harder to shave areas such as under the arms or the ankles giving a smooth shave. The strips of moisture also seem to work to help prevent your legs drying out after shaving them. I found that my legs remained stubble free for longer and on the second day still felt quite smooth. The only bad point is they do cost more than than Gillette Venus three blade razors however if you’re legs remain smoother for longer tdoes mean you don’t need to shave quite as often.

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle

cocoFor my wedding day like many other brides I decided I wanted a new fragrance -  something special that when worn in the future would forever remind of that wonderful day! The fragrance needed to be sophisticated and elegant to match a girls dream for her wedding day, however the fragrance also needed to combine elements of the perfume that I would normally wear, so it would still remind my husband to be of me.

Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel is a delicate fragrance combining jasmine and rose with a hint of iris. It is feminine and sensual however still embodies the classic elegance of Chanel. The eau de parfum comes in a beautiful bottle in a sensual peach colour that would look stunning on anyone’s dressing table. It is the perfect wedding fragrance as it embodies the elegance and sophistication of the big day.

I am now a Clarins girl!

clarinsAfter years of being a Clinique girl I have recently discovered the wonders of Clarins skincare range.  This Christmas I was bought my first Clarins gift set comprising of a foaming cleanser, toning lotion , and a moisturiser.

I usually struggle with combination skin to find a product that is able to control the oily patches without drying out other areas. Having very sensitive skin I had always had to use the products for drier skin types which are more soothing even though I suffer from an oily T-zone.

With the Clarins range I am able to use the products for combination skin even on my very sensitive skin. These are perfectly balanced to moisturiser where needed whilst controlling oil in other areas.

The foaming cleanser leaves your skin feeling wonderfully clean and soothed without making it feel tight and over dried like so many other skin care ranges for combination skin. I have never before being able to use a toner without my skin feeling sore however the  Clarins toning lotion simply leaves your skin feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. It also helps to tighten up those pores and removes the dead skin  that can dull your complexion. Finally the  gentle day cream is a rich moisturiser that feels very light when applied to the skin. It provides moisture to those dry areas without over loading the oiler t-zone areas. After a couple of months using the gift set with glowing skin I am definitely now a Clarins girl!
